This vintage whimsy was made by the S & V company of Germany and it epitomizes bliss. A fat sailor holds his plump, bare foot bathing beauty proudly and they both seem very happy. The back portion of the sailor is open and was probably intended to be used for holding matches which could be struck on the slightly textured side or bottom. On the bottom it is marked with the Schafer & Vater crown mark and the mold number 7127. This is generally much better in character and quality than the versions made in Japan.
It measures about 3 7/8" tall. The base measures about 3 3/8" across the lifesaver to the edge of his foot by 2 7/8" from the back to the tip of his toe. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage. There is a line across her left arm that is a mold crease and not a crack.
