This vintage, cast iron scale has the Toledo name on one side and; No Springs - Honest Weight, on the other. Scales of this sort were used for weighing many things including candy in old general stores however this is a toy scale. It is attributed by many to be made by Arcade but it is not marked with a company name. It has its original nickel tray and the arm in the "window" actually moves when something is put in the scoop. At one time there was a paper insert with numbers in the open area behind the "needle" but it is all but gone now. The scale is painted orange with the lettering being pale white. TS 725 & TS 726 are cast inside on opposing sides and the bottom on the scoop is stamped; 12.
The base 3 1/2" by 1 1/8" and it measures about 4" tall. It is in very good original condition with no cracks in the casting. The paint is bright and has good gloss although it shows wear on most of the edges. The nickeled pieces are generally good with the inside of the scoop showing some wear.
