Old Columbia, Cast Iron, Meat Juice Press - Late 1800’s

This vintage, cast iron kitchen tool is called a meat juice press. On one side it is marked Landers Frary & Clark - New Britain, Conn. U.S.A.. The other side of the cast frame reads; Columbia Meat Juice Press. The primary use for this was extracting juices from pieces of meat. The juice was then used for infants, as iron tonic and as flavor enhancing of general cooking. It could also be used for juicing citrus fruit. The removable cup is domed and ribbed and the upper portion is handled for convenience with the cap being ribbed and concave to fit over the dome. The T-handle allowed for maximum tightening of the screw for extraction. The frame and the T-handle are japanned. The two removable piece are also cast iron and appear to be zinc plated.

It measures about 7 3/8" tall in the lowest position the base measures about 3 ¾" in diameter. It is in very good original condition with minimal paint wear. The plating is fairly good on the inside portions but shows wear on the outside of the cup and handled piece.

The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
