Old S & V - Belsazar Figurine

This interesting and unusually large piece was made by the Schafer and Vater company of Germany in the early 1900's. On the front it reads; Belsazar which is one spelling for Belshazzar the Babylonian general who is referred to in the Bible as the last king of Babylon. This elaborate piece shows a man of authority with his weapon raised being driven in a chariot like vehicle pulled by two regal horses. On the back is open pocket which could have possibly held long matches which could have been stuck on the wood grain texture of the pocket. On the bottom is the S & V crown mark along with a four digit number.

It is in very nice condition with no damage and minimal wear. It measures about 8 1/2" long and 6 1/2" high. The base measures about 7 7/8" by 1 15/16" at the widest point.

The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
