This vintage box is for the game of Kangaroo. The orange and purple, triangular box has fun graphics with kangaroos laughing and talking to one another using cartoon balloons. The edge of the box has horseshoes and shamrocks. Inside is the cardboard game board that has three legs coming off of a six sided star. There are 25 numbered holes on the board and all but one hole was suppose to hold a small wooden peg. The object was to jump pegs, one at a time until only the King was remaining in hole number 14. The directions are printed on the box lid along with a contest challenge. The Kangaroo Corp. of New York offered $500.00 for the correct solution of the game with the prize being awarded in January 1916! The box was printed by The Gray Lith. Co. N.Y. and it has a 1915 copyright by the Kangaroo Corporation.
This is not a complete game, it is missing 11 of the pegs.
The box measures about 9 ¼" on each of the three sides by 5/8" deep. It is in fair condition with some fading, a large scratch in the lower right corner, tattered edges and torn corners that have scotch tape. The board insert has more vivid colors than the lid and has minor scuff wear and wear around the holes. As previously stated it is missing eleven of the pegs.
