This vintage, hand operated can opener is simple and efficient. It is made of aluminum and was manufactured by the Rival company which is stamped on the lever. The lever has a stippled indentation on one end of both the top and bottom. The gear grips the tin and rotates with the turn of the handle and the round blade rotates to cut the can open. It is not overly heavy or bulky and fits well even in a smaller hand. I believe it is from the 1930's - 1940's.
It measures about 7 1/8" long is in very good condition with minor wear. The blade moves freely and feels sharp even though it is slightly discolored.
