This vintage O.J. windup toy is made of celluloid and was made during the late 1940's - early 1950's. When wound the cowboy twirls his lasso while the pink and white horse vibrates turning in a circle on his hind legs and his tail spins. It is marked JAPAN on the riders back. There is one shown in Toys from Occupied Japan by Anthony R. Marsella with its box and it is called RANCHER.
It still works and is in very good condition with minimal wear. This toy is often missing the lasso and the horse's tail which makes this one especially nice. Standing on his hind legs it measures about 6" to the top of the lasso.
