This is a cute, vintage, Japanese toy of a teddy bear in a blue tunic wearing a large pair of roller skates. It has a very nice action when wound. The bear skates in a large circle seemingly kicking off with his left foot and leaning forward with each stroke. The bear is plush with tiny glass or plastic eyes and a little painted tin nose. Both of his arms are jointed. The over sized roller skates are painted tin. The wind-up mechanism is in the right foot and the back wheels are the drive wheels. The wheels on the left foot never actually touch the ground. It is marked; Japan on the bottom of the left foot and I believe this is a prewar piece.
It is in very nice condition with minimal wear. The plush shows minimal wear. The white of the face and inner ears appear a little dingy. The painted tin is very good with minor paint loss and a few small scratches. The paint is worn from the wheels. In the most upright position it measures about 6 5/8" tall to the top of his ear.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
