This vintage wall hanging is a nice piece of stitchery. Since does not have the numbers or complete alphabet, I don't know if it can actually be considered a true "sampler" but it is a nice piece of hand sewing. There is a scene of a home with tress and an arched trellis with flowers. Below the house it reads; The Blessing of the House is Contentment. There is a floral spray below the motto and the entire piece is framed with flowers. It is framed under glass and the frame is painted wood with a decorative edge and gold accents. It appears to have the original paper back and although the eyelets and the wire appear old they may not be original. There is writing on the back by two different hands in two type of ink. It starts with; May 1927 From Mrs. White & Family. Below that it reads; (the frame - Alice did the cross stitch when in High School.
Overall it measures about 10 ¼" by 13 ¼" and is in good condition with minor wear. The glass is in tact with no damage but there appears to be a little bit of haze, under the glass, in a few spots. The paper on the back shows considerable wear and is torn almost ¾ of the way around.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
