Old Ephemera - 3 Vintage Reward of Merit Cards

These pretty little cards are from the late 1800's when a simple gesture of a Reward of Merit was a treasured token for a job well done. Later, a Gold Star did the trick and now....a new piece of technology....my how things have changed!

The first is quite elaborate with a moonlit sky behind the violent looking seascape and an inset of how the day at the beach might have been with a finely dressed couple watching 2 children at play in the sand. On the back is writing including a date of 1890. It measures about 3 1/8" by 5 3/16" and is in nice condition with some edge wear and light soiling.

The next card has a pretty blue eyed girl in a Victorian dress and hat. She holds a piece of paper in on hand and has a blue bird perched on her other hand. It reads; Reward of Merit Presented to, but has never been filled in. It has nothing on the back. It measures about 3 3/16" by 4 7/8" and is in nice condition with some edge wear however it does have some staining and discoloration to the upper left side.

The third card is colorful, sweet and to the point with a basket full of flowers and the words; Reward of Merit. It has nothing on the back. It measures about 2 7/8" by 4 1/8" and is in very nice condition with minimal wear and soiling.

Priced and sold as the lot of three.

The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
