This vintage, metal jewelry box has the graceful lines generally seen in Art Nouveau pieces. There is a floral design all around the lower half which is raised on four short legs. On the top of the hinged lid is a cluster of the flowers repeating the design of the bottom. The flowers look like pansies to me. Inside is a pale pink silk-like fabric lining with a braided trim. On the bottom it is marked with 1173. It appears to be a white metal such as spelter with a gold colored gilding over a copper colored base.
It measures about 4 1/2" wide by 3 1/8" deep and 3 ¼" high. It is in very good condition with minor wear and no damage. There is a slight amount of copper color showing through on the raised areas and a minimal amount of other discoloration. The thin lining inside is in fairly good with light wear and some little tears.
