This is a vintage 188A Automatic Drill from the Millers Falls Company. It has a; Bakelite Magazine Handle and a rotating metal cap with a hole for dispensing the bits it holds. The band below the cap is numbered 1 -8 and reads; The bottom plate reads; Millers Falls Co. - Greenfield, Mass. - Made in U.S.A. - No. 188A. The cross-hatched end opens and closes the chuck. It comes in its original box with the paper label on the top and on the end. The auto drill originally came with 8 Drill Points but only 4 remain as shown in the photos. I believe this was made from the late 1930's to 1960.
It measures about 9 7/8" long and appears to be in very good, working condition with minor use. There are a few light nicks on the shaft. The box measures about 10 1/4" by 1 ½" by 1 ¼" and is in fair condition with edge wear, tears and some staining but the label still reads well and it has kept the tool in nice condition. Someone has put masking tape on the end of the inner box to be used as a tab for opening the box with more ease.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
