This is a nice pair of vintage bookends featuring a pair of Oriental boys mounted on realistic books. They are essentially the same with the young boy in a seated position with an open book in his lap. They have nicely detailed faces with their long braided queue down their backs and are wearing traditional Oriental attire. The bases they're attached to have two realistic looking "books" stacked as the base with a vertical book as the back. They appear to be made of a painted soapstone or resin like material. The "books" are painted a dark purple and the outfits are a deep green/black. They both appear to have the original felt on the bottom.
These are in fairly good condition with minor wear. The paint on the "books" appears a little blotchy or maybe somewhat oxidized. The corner of one book is chipped as shown in the photos. They measure about 6 5/16" to the top of the books and they measure about 4 13/16" wide and 6 3/8" deep. They weigh almost 10 pounds without packing weight.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
