This is a nice, vintage set of four small metal trays advertising Columbia Records. These were probably intended to be used as drink coasters but could also have been used as ashtrays. In any case, they don't appear to have been used for anything. Each tray has the raised Columbia logo with "Columbia Records" below it and is stamped with the manufacturing company's name, Hyde Park, on the back. They are made of a non-metallic metal, probably brass or bronze, with substantial weight and appear to have a coating, maybe lacquer over them. The trays are packed in their original box, 2 to a side, wrapped in thick cellophane. The lid of the box reads; The Hyde Park Line - Desk and Smoking Accessories. I believe these were probably from the late 1950's or early 1960's.
Each tray measures about 3 3/8" square and sets about 3/8" high and are in very nice condition. There is a little pitting which I have tried to show in the close-up which might be a manufacturing flaw. The cellophane bags are torn. The box measures about 3 ½" by 7" by 1" and is in fair condition with some rub and edge tear wear. The lid is also slightly warped.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
