This is a fun set of vintage birthday candle holders. The six piece set includes a monkey driving the locomotive with an elephant, a duck, a bunny rabbit, a squirrel and a puppy dog in the train cars. Each of the pieces holds one candle so it could be used for birthdays 1 through 6 depending on the number of candles you put in it. All of the pieces are hand painted and marked Japan on the bottom. The engine has a small hole at the rear and the caboose has a hole in the front. Each of the other cars have a hole at both ends so the train can be tethered together with the red string that came with it. The engine measures about 3" long by 2" high and each of the other pieces measure about 1 ¾" long by 1 3/8" +/-. They're in good but used condition with minor paint wear. They have no chip damage but some have wax drips and/or smoke soot. Removing either could possibly remove the paint so I have elected to leave it as is.
The set comes in the original box which shows the train in a line as well as on a birthday cake. There is an outer sleeve that goes over the inner box that has a few dividing pieces. It measures about 2 ¼" by 12 ¼" by 1" and is in well used condition. It has worn corners and edges, creases and tears to both the inner and outer box. The outer box also has scotch tape on it. It may have hade ends flaps but if so they are all missing.
