Old Conical Ice Cream Scoop - F.S. Co. Clipper

This vintage ice cream dipper was manufactured by the F.S. Co. of Troy New York. It is made of nickel plated brass with a painted wood handle. The conical size 16 bowl (sixteen scoops to the quart) is marked on the scraper inside the bowl. On the back of the mechanism it has the patent date of Sept. 1 1914 and the thumb lever reads; Clipper F.S.Co. Troy N.Y 5.

It is in nice original condition with signs of wear. The spring mechanism works well. The plating is worn down to the brass in several areas including the edges of the wiper blades, the ferrule above the wood handle, the back of the thin shaft and the cap of the bowl. There are nicks on the shaft probably from being rapped against an ice cream carton edge as well as some plating loss. The finish on the handle is fairly good with some wear. Overall it's a nice ice cream scoop in original condition. It measures about 10" in length and the bowl measures about 2 7/16" in diameter.
