Old, Marx Wind-up Mechanical Military Airplane with Original Box

This colorful, vintage, tin wind up toy plane is from Louis Marx & Co. Inc.. The plane has camouflage markings, the number 125 on the wing and a star and stripe emblem on the wing and both sides of the cockpit. This high winged monoplane with a fixed propeller has an open cockpit with a pilots head attached and is a version of the looping plane that Marx's first manufactured around 1941. When wound with the attached key the plane travels across the floor, raises up on its forked flipper, flips over and repeats the action. Along the side of the fuselage is the Marx's logo and Made in Japan. This version is probably from the late 1940's or 1950's.

It has a 4 1/8" wingspan and measures about 2 ¼" high and 3 ¼" long. It is in good condition with minor rub and scratch wear to the litho. The wing and the tail section are a little wobbly but it appears to be a manufacturing condition. It winds up, runs across the floor and makes its flip but seems to need a little nudge to get going again. It is a working vintage toy, not intended for continuous use and is being sold as is.

The plane comes in its original box which is covered with colorful graphics. The sides of the box show the looping path the plane makes. It has the number; J9634 and the Marx logo on it as well. The box measures about 3 5/8" by 4 ½" by 1 ¾" and is in fairly good condition with some crease and edge wear, especially the bottom half of the box. There is also a puncture to the center of the lid where the pilots head has poked through.
