Old, Carved Shell Cameo Brooch - G.F. Mount

Old, Carved Shell Cameo Brooch - G.F. Mount

This is a beautifully made vintage cameo pin from the early 1900's. It is carved from a natural shell and has wonderful detail. The woman appears to be a Grecian goddess with striking facial features and finely detailed hair. Besides the various curls there is a wisp of hair lying down her broad neck. She has a crescent shaped adornment in her hair and her shoulder-baring garment is draped. The gold filled bezel is simple with a twisted band around the outer edge. On the back is a locking clasp pin and a small stamped piece that reads; 1/20 12k G.F..

It is a very nice size measuring about 1 13/16 by 1 7/16" overall. The shell portion measures about 1 5/8" by 1 3/16". It is in very nice condition with minimal wear. The photo with the light behind it shows the natural stress of the thin shell material. These are not cracked through and are not considered threatening or damaged.
