Old Book- Stampkraft Mother Goose Rhymes - Series 1
This small, vintage hardbound book is titled Mother Goose Rhymes Done in Poster Stamps and is from the early 1900's. This is number one in the Mother Goose Series and it contains 12, mostly popular, nursery rhymes. Each one-page nursery rhyme has an opposing page with a colorful stamped glued in place. Some of the rhymes are; Little Jack Horner, Simple Simon, Baa, Baa, Black Sheep, Miss Mary & Humpty-Dumpty as examples. The inside front cover has a little envelope that contained the twelve Stampkraft Poster Stamps to illustrate the stories. The inside back cover lists other titles to add to your Stampkraft library. The front of the book also as an applied stamp of Mother Goose on her gander. It was printed by the United Art Publishing Co. of New York and has a 1914 copyright.
It measures about 4" by 4 7/8" and is in very nice condition but not without a few flaws. The paper over the hardboard cover shows minor edge wear except along the spine which is more tattered. The cover also has minor soiling. The spine is sewn and generally in tact. The inside pages are basically clean with light wrinkling from the moisture used to put the stickers in place. All of the stamps are on their correct pages. Some of the stamps have small edge tears. The corner of This Pig Went to Market is torn off as shown in the photos.
