Old Chein, No. 5 Dime Register Savings Bank
This vintage tin toy coin bank is in the shape of a little cash register. When you place a dime in the vertical slot on the front and move the lever on the left side of the front, the deposit is "recorded" at the top. That first dime also locks the sliding door on the back and supposedly it cannot be opened until the last dime, at ten dollars, unlocks the door. On the bottom is J. Chein & Co. U.S.A. logo.
It measures about 2" high by 2 ¼" wide and 2 ½" deep. It is in good condition with minimal scratch wear. It comes with its original box.
The box has graphics of the bank on the four sides and the top and bottom of the box has the bank and company information. On the top of the box it is stamped with the original price of 29c. The box measures about 2 ¼" square by 2 ¾" high. It is in good condition with light wear. The top flap is torn.
