Decorative Painting by Jim Kroeter - Derelicts
This is a simple and striking piece titled Derelicts. It is a loose sketch on paper of two old boats which is applied to a piece of wood. The sketch is hand painted with a rather free hand technique and lightly splattered overall with paint. The wood is painted on the back and sides and the brown paint laps over the edge of the paper. On the back it is signed; "Derelicts" Sketched at Moss Landing - J.Kroeter Los Gatos. There is also a label from the Paint Brush Gallery of Saratoga, California which has the following had written information; Jim Kroeter $4.95. I believe this artist was born in 1911 in North Dakota, lived in Iowa and was known for his still life and commercial art, often under the name James Kroeter. It appears to have the original string hanger stapled on the back.
Overall it measures about 10 ¾" by 7 ¼" by 13/16" and is in very nice condition with minimal wear.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
