Old Figural Fruit Reamer - Pear - 3 Piece
This is a vintage juice reamer in the form of a pear. The stemmed top of the pear comes off of the spouted base to reveal the ribbed cone for juicing the fruit. The holes at the base of the reamer allow the juice to enter the pitcher. The pear is dimpled and has a high gloss glaze with a faint, uneven, yellow luster. The leaves are painted green and outlined in black. The stem, handle and alternating grooves of the reamer are trimmed in gold. It is marked on the bottom with a round flower logo and reads; Hand Painted - Made in Japan. I believe this is from the 1930's.
It measures about 5" high and about 5 ½" across the spout and handle. It is in good condition with no damage. The yellow color is weak but I have not seen one that has been richly colored so I'm not sure how they originally looked. The gold is strong on the stem but weak on the handle. There is a firing imperfection on the inside crease of the spout which is a manufacturing flaw and not damage. The same is true of the imperfection on the leaf which is shown in the photos also.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
