Old Kangaroo & Joey Figural Celluloid Tape Measure
This kangaroo with a purse over her arm is a vintage celluloid tape measure. The baby roo's head is the end of the tape. It is embossed Japan on the bottom with a fleur-de-lis logo. The white cloth tape which is also marked Japan has inch increments on both sides. This is probably from the late 1940's or early 50's.
It measures about 2 ½" tall and is in fairly good condition. There is a "blow hole" on the back which is in the manufacturing of celluloid pieces. There is a discoloration under her neck but under magnification it looks like ink or paint and not a split or crack. Otherwise, the celluloid is in pretty good condition with light paint wear. The tape is frayed but generally pulls out and retracts wells, HOWEVER the baby kangaroo's head is only attached by a few strands and will not hold up to many pulls. This has been taken into consideration in the pricing and is being sold as is.
