Old Kanner's Dubeledge Razor Blade Stropper with Original Box
This is a very nice, vintage apparatus for sharpening old double edge razor blades, in particular, Gillette blades which is stated on the box. It is a Dubeledge from the Samuel Kanner company of New York. The blade is clamped onto the center piece and then the bar across the top is held down with your thumb while you turn the crank. When the bar is released the blade rotates so when it is depressed again the other side of the blade is sharpened on the leather rollers. It comes in its original cardboard box and an instruction sheet.
The body of the nickel plated stropper measures about 2 3/8" by 2 7/8" but the mechanism and the crank extend out further on either side. It is in very good condition with minimal wear to the plating and light use to the leather on the rollers. The box measures about 2 5/8" by 4 5/8" by 2 1/8" high and is in fair condition with soiling, edge and paper wear and a puncture hole on the top. The bottom edge of the box is also torn. The instruction sheet measures about 4" by 5" and is in fairly good condition with minor soiling, crease and edge wear.
