Old Kingery Conical Ice Cream Scoop
This vintage ice cream dipper was manufactured by the Kingery Mfg. Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is nickel plated with a squeeze handle mechanism. The bowl is conical and is a size 6 (six scoops to the quart) which is marked where the handle is attached to the bowl. In Wayne Smith's book; Ice Cream Dippers, an old ad calls this Kingery's Rapid Ice Cream Disher and show it was patented in 1894. When the fancy handle is squeezed the bowl rotates and the four wiper blades release the ice cream. On the wiper it reads; Kingery Mf`g. Co. Cin`ti, O.
It is in good original condition but not without wear. The spring mechanism works well. The plating has some blemishes and there are nicks on the top of the cone. The solder joints are crude but original and common to this particular scoop. It measures about 8 5/8" in length and the bowl measures about 3" in diameter and overall it's a nice scoop in original condition.
