Old Disneyland Souvenir Explorer Telescope Toy
This old toy telescope with a tiny built in compass is a souvenir from Disneyland, probably from the early 1960's. The metal body is covered with a sheet of pink plastic that has the Disneyland attractions featured; Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Adventureland. Near the top edge it reads Disneyland - with Walt Disney Productions copyright. It is marked Japan on both the plastic and on the metal near the eye piece. It is not a precision instrument but the telescope does bring distant objects closer and the compass seems to move and appears to be somewhat accurate in a playful way.
It measures about 6 3/16" in length when closed and nearly 10" fully extended. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear. The edge of the plastic nearest the eyepiece has an area that looks like the pink color is gone from the backside but the plastic is not damaged or missing.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
