Old Morimura - Nippon Hanging Plaque - Cottage with Chickens
This beautiful vintage Nippon plate has rich colors and is trimmed with detailed beading. It features a thatched roof "hut" with skinny chickens in the yard. The back has the green mark identified as #47 in the Joan F. Van Patten Collector's Encyclopedia of Nippon Porcelain - 2nd Series. It is the M in wreath mark - the M stands for importer Morimura. It is factory pierced for hanging on the wall.
It measures about 7 5/8" in diameter and is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or other damage. There is a small smudge of paint on the back edge which was done in the manufacturing and is not damage (see photo).
