Old Figural Pencil Sharpener - Celluloid Pelican
This silly looking celluloid bird is an old pencil sharpener probably from the 1930's - 40's. A metal pencil sharpener is inserted into the base of the pelican and is removable so you can empty the graphite shavings. The metal part of the cone is embossed; Made in Japan.
It measures about 3 1/8" tall. There is no damage on this piece but the paint shows wear and the celluloid seems permanently dirty on the inside from the graphite.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
