Old Phonograph Needle Tin - Highly Refined Herold
This vintage phonograph needle tin was for steel needles used to play 78 records on wind up phonographs like Victrolas. It has a nice graphics with a brass external horned phonograph like the Victor on the front. It reads; 200 Highly Refined Herold Needles. On the front edge of the hinged lid it reads; Made in Bavaria. Inside there are 50-60 needles.
The tin measures about 1 5/8" by 1 7/8" by 1/2" and is in good condition with minimal wear. There is some of the finish is worn off of bottom half and there is also a dull spot on the front particularly over the horn. I would guess this is where the original paper seal was glued. The white speckled area in front of the horn looks like part of the design, perhaps to depict sound waves. The needles inside are lightly rusted but most appear to be in unused and playable condition. No cost has been added for the needles.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
