Sterling Silver Ink Well, William Champion, 1907
There is an inscription around the inside rim of the ink well, and it reads:
Welhome Congregational Church Grimsby Oct. 15th 1907 Presented to M. Wintringham By The Deacon of the Church On the Occasion of Laying the Foundation Stone
The ink well is decorated with an acorn on the final of the lid with leaves scrolling downward on the lid. The base has 9 radiating segments decorated with florals.
The underside base of the ink well is covered with brown leather. Other than the glass to hold the ink has been lost over time and this does not take away the beauty of this sterling,1905 hallmarked ink well. The over all condition would be an A-
The ink well weighs 9.45 grams, but it does have a weighted bottom. The ink well measures 5" at the base, 2 1/2" across at the well, and it is 3" high.
