18TH Century Recamier in the Italian "Grotesque" Style

18TH century recamier in the Italian "Grotesque" style. The back of this truly incredible piece of furniture features cornucopias, rams heads and ponies. The front corner is a figure of a Nubian Prince standing on a mythical animal with a snake body and goat- like face. The front and side aprons are completely carved and end in claw feet. The back right corner is a partial figure. Equally amazing is the fact that this piece retains its original finish! There are no losses to the carving. The only restoration we can see is a re-gluing of the back panel on a seam. The wood is walnut and it has been beautifully re-upholstered in blue damask. 61" long x 24" deep x 33" tall.
