This marble plaque, nicely carved in relief, is embossed "Registered 1888". It has a very interesting Egyptian motif, with a potentate being cooled with a large fan, surrounded by slaves, with an elephant, camel and much more. Hard to photograph, but delightful to view.
The frame has a Greek Key border.
Size: 21 inches long by 9 inches tall Framed.
Circa: The plaque is late 1800s. The frame is later.
Condition: There are no losses, but could use a cleaning. Some expected rubs. The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
Provenance: I. Schwartz, Antiquities and Fine Art. Executor/Trustee of the estate from which I bought this and a number of other articles.
Item ID: A4826
