This piece simply fascinates me. I purchased it at Bruce Kodner's Gallery years ago and still haven't found out much about it.
It is definitely metal, pewter colored, but I do not know if it is pewter or??? It has been trimmed in gilt which has survived the years for the most part. The figure itself stands 4 and 1/2 inches tall. The base adds a tad under 2 inches.
It has such a beautiful base, but the malachite is not solid. By the bottom, which I took off much of what had been glued on to protect surfaces that he sits on, and it appears that the malachite is a thin veneer over a marble stone.
The figure is glued to the base.
The figure is in Good Condition, with no losses but the expected scratches and wear.
The outside of the base is Excellent.
Age: Vintage or Antique.
This was sold to me as an antique, but I won't warrant it being over 100 years old, although I was told that the figure is an antique that has been attached to a later base, and I have priced it at much less than I paid.
