Exquisite Hardstone Brush Holder (Or Flower Frog) With Wood Stand, Vintage
I love this stone. It has such beautiful striations; a joy just to view.
The photos do not do it justice. This is an extremely heavy piece, very old, and showing some of its age in a way to accentuate its beauty. The holes for brushes can be used to display flowers. I would use short stems and very full broad blossoms.
It is nine and one-half inches tall. The carved wood base, with the hollowed out portion to fit the piece perfectly, is two and one-half inches high. Unsigned.
The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
