Victorian Aide Memoire, Black Lacquer Covers, Inlaid Silver And Mother Of Pearl Floral Decoration c. 1844
I am so pleased to offer this Victorian aide memoire with black lacquer covers, the front inlaid with silver and mother of pearl floral decoration, the back with a single silver line. The inside cover has an 1840 French calendar applied with adhesive. The first leaf documents the opening of the Dover Railway, February 6th, 1844.
The size is 3 13/16" in length, 2 7/16" in width and 5/8" in depth, weighing 54g.
This is in good condition with no undue wear, damage or repair. The inside silk lining is tatty and shows signs of re-glueing. The notepad is separate from the covers and the internal white leaves being detached from the pink cover.
This is a nice looking Victorian book with an interesting and unusual railway connection.
