Created by a skilled artist during the Art Deco period, this precious and highly collectible hardstone figurine is made from bright pink Rhodonite with natural grey inclusions. This sculpture shows clear influence of Japanese Okimono carvings of the Meiji period. The renowned artist workshops of Faberge and Cartier competed each other with eccentric and fancy animal portrayals and hence made this art form highly popular amidst European collectors.
This carving shows the naturalistic portrayals of a Spaniel and her puppy. The mother is depicted in a reclining posture and the puppy has climbed onto her back. The family resemblance cannot be denied!
The sculpture has been carved with anatomical correctness, neatly incised fur and delightful facial expressions. Don't miss out on the opportunity to add such a lovely Art Deco piece to YOUR collection!
