Antique Victorian Statuette: A Sweet Little Boy With Drums And Soldiers! c Late 19th Century

This is a delightful little statuette of an early Victorian period boy seated on the floor and playing with some soldiers. He pretends himself to be a soldier and has a little toy drum, and wears shoulder decorations taken from a soldier's uniform.

This cast metal statuette with gold patina is unsigned; executed by an unknown European artist.

The work is 18 cm /7 inches high and 20 cm / 8 inches wide.

The work is in fairly good condition. The patina is worn off in several places. There is a hole drilled in the back of the figures head. Presumably he was once wearing an officer's hat or something similar.

The painting was authenticated by art expert Mesa Bajric. His credentials: MA in Graphic and History of Art at the Academy of Art in Sarajevo Expert in: Graphic 16th – 20th century Central European Art Former Employers: Museums: Portrait Gallery in Tuzla, Bosnia Exhibitions: Moscow, Russia Gelsenkirchen, Germany Dubrovnik, Croatia Belgrade, Serbia Sarajevo, Bosnia Ljublijana, Slovenia Zagreb, Croatia Copenhagen, Denmark
