Bob Byerley's original oils, when you can find them, can go into the $50,000 to $100,000 range and more. Even his giclees sell for many thousands of dollars. This is an authentic original oil on board. Byerley is the master of trompe l'oeil, a style of painting that gives an illusion of photographic reality. "Gypsies",1980, is an excellent example of Byerley's work. It is a depiction of Gypsy fortune telling. This typical Byerley tends to provoke the viewer's imagination. His best friend was the model for the dancing man at the campfire. If you look closely you will see a cat in the arms of of a woman at the campfire. The foreground depicts a variety of fortune telling equipment, along with the Beloved Gypsy Violin. Byerley's technique is amazing. Observe the Crystal Ball and it's reflections, pewter cup, porcelain cups, paper items, wood, peeling paint, fabric textures, jewelry, etc. Oil on board, size 23 x 18 1/2". Beautifully framed, it measures 30 inches by 26 inches. In Very Good to Excellent Condition. Provenance: Muchnick Collection.
