This is a spectacular combination, gray wet and dry wash water color by J. Marque. In his prime medium of watercolor, Marque is noted for landscapes and mountains. Strikingly matted in gold with what we think is a tiger maple frame.
This is from the 1950s.
It is in Very Good Condition .... normal wear to frame; minor discoloration and creasing/ warping to mat.
Refer to Davenport's Art Reference and Price Guide 2003/2004; Encyclopedia of Artists' Signatures Symbols and Monograms/Caplan, Creps.
It measures 34 and 1/2 inches long and 20 and 3/4 inches wide.
