Orrefors First Annual Limited Edition Plate, "Notre Dame," 1970, Sweden, Magnificently Engraved in The Plate in Gold
Orrefors is certainly Sweden's foremost producer of world renowned crystal, has created this first annual limited edition plate of the Historical Churches of the World series. The Cathedral of Notre Dame stands on an island in the Seine River in the heart of Paris. Pope Alexander III laid the cornerstone in 1163, and the Cathedral was completed 150 years later.
John Selbing, resident designer at Orrefors, was responsible for the development of the plate as well as the process by which the design is engraved in the crystal. It is nearly 10 inches across. The plate is in Very Good to Excellent Condition. The box is in very good condition, with a clear plastic cover. The back of the box has a stand for displaying. A very elegant collectible.
