This magnificent piece (905) has pairs of birds in lightly polished relief against a satin background. It was appraised by Nicholas Dawes, considered to be the premier expert on Lalique, at $10,000 in 2001, with the note that at auction a buyers premium of 15% and applicable taxes would be added to this price. As I am sure you are aware, many people feel this rare quality R Lalique is possibly safer to invest in than the stock market! And many feel appreciation will beat the interest rates at banks for savings accounts. Whether these ideas are correct or not, simply the pride of ownership of this magnificent piece, and the enjoyment of viewing it, is beyond description. It is 240 mm (approximately 9 and 1/2 inches tall).
