Signed African Superbly Carved Wood Antelope
I bought this incredible piece in an Art Gallery in Kenya (Nairobi) in the early 70's. The artist (see signature pictured) was an extremely well-respected and sought after artist.
I have tried to capture this from different angles, to show how beautiful the wood and the workmanship is. I have long loved this piece....just enjoyed looking at it to remind me of our African trips. The realism of the pose...the detail even on the horns...truly a wonderful work of art.
It is about 8 and 1/4 inches tall (to top of horns) and the base a bit over 4 and 1/2 inches wide.
