Antique Crescent Moon Pearl Comb in Box

The top edge of the comb is set with a row of small natural seed pearls "sprouting" three large and two smaller dipped faux pearls resembling unopened white tulip flowers. Each "tulip" flower sports an acid tested 15k yellow gold crescent moon form studded with more natural seed pearls. Perhaps this hair comb was a customized gift from a paramour seeking the moon and the stars.

The honey-colored hair comb is accompanied by the original gold tooled brown leather box of issue with interior of damask blue velvet and pale blue silk inscribed with "Guaranteed London Made, Trade Mark and Teacher & Co. Limited".

Date: Circa 1880.

Measurements: 3-1/2 inches (8.8 cm) in length by 1-1/2 inches (3.7 cm) in width. Weight of 8.0 grams (5.1 dwt).
