Superb Art Deco Giardinetti Pendant Necklace

This current example is a classic Art Deco interpretation of a 17th century inspiration. The overall configuration shouts Art Deco with its linear skyscraper bale to the symmetrical geometric "fringe". Crafted of sterling silver, the pendant is a study in detail with its precise weave design accented with sparkling marcasites.

The stylized basket overflows with white iron pyrite dotted leaves and stems as the vibrant bold colors of green, black and carnelian hued glass rounds portray the basic colors of the era. Geometrics abound in the guise of hemispheres of hematite and green agate and a pyramid of chalcedony along with glittering triangles, rectangles and squares. The open work pendant is accompanied by the original ornate linked chain.

Measurements: Pendant is 3 inches in length (7.2 cm) by 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in width. Chain is 20-3/4 inches (52.5 cm) in total length. Weight of 29.8 grams (19.2 dwt).

Condition: Excellent; one minute repair to silver work on the reverse.

Date & Origin: Circa 1925 and is German in origin.
