Dorflinger Rye Whiskey Tumble Up
This is the biggest tumble up we have seen! It measures 13 3/4" tall and is 4 3/8" wide. The manufacturer is Dorflinger circa 1897 to 1907. There is a paper label on the shoulder of the decanter. The paper label will dissolve if water hits it so the bottle has not been washed (probably ever). The label has been deemed old by several members of the American Cut Glass Association and by the Dorflinger museum.
The tumble up glass has a great pontil as does the bottle. The glass and inside stopper were ground to fit the bottle. The cutting is of rye, leaves and straight lines coming up from the base. There are straw marks in the glass at the neck. We think perhaps these items were made and decorated as whimseys by the workers at Dorflinger. Overall condition is very good!
