Two very old original engravings Circa 1790's. These are on the same sheet of paper and each one measures 7" x 5". The notation states......] Engraved for BANKES's New System of GEOGRAPHY Published by Royal Authority. The top one is notated as ... A HUMAN SACRIFICE, in a MORAI in OTAHEITE. The lower one is notated as.. The Body of TEE a CHIEF, as preserved after DEATH in OTAHEITE. This engraving has a very small hole just at the end on the Chiefs litter, but otherwise the condition of both is remarkably good. A real find for any collector of Pacific history or of course of CAPTAIN JAMES COOK.
