The USS Volador had her keel laid in June 1945 just after the end of WW11. She was launched in May of 1948 and in 1972 she was decommissioned and loaned to ITALY. I. She was returned to US control in 1977 , then struck from the Navy List and sold to Italy where she continued to operate as the S.S.Gazzana Priaroggia S-502. This plaque is very heavy as the metal is solid cast bronze and this sits on a solid wooden plaque measuring 10 1/2" x 9" at widest point.
