A very cute little skull NIGHT CAP with lovely brocade designs and a matching small bag. The piece "looks" like Victorian to Edwardian period in style but it's very hard to say accurately what the actual age may be.The cap has some re-stitching to the lining but the exterior is good... Measures approx 7" in diameter. The bag shows some rubbing and wear signs and is torn around the draw strings plus has been re-stitched on base.We are unsure of the 'origins' of this cap and matching bag but the term Skullcap or skull cap may refer to Headgear such as: A Kippah or yarmulke, a small cloth skullcap worn by Orthodox Jewish men and some Jewish women Kufi, or kofia, a skullcap worn primarily by men of West African heritage Taqiyah (cap), a skullcap worn by Muslim men Tubeteika, a Central Asian cap Tuque, a knit hat Zucchetto, worn by Catholic clergy (including the Pope) Beanie, a brimless cap popular amongst school age boys from the 1920s to the early 1940s
