This metal badge was awarded on joining the Communist Party in Vietnam after the death of Ho Chi Minh. Badge, dates to pre 1965 prior to the introduction of a version with different wording in 1965 that included a reference to Ho Chi Minh. The 1965 version was further changed in 1969 when the manufacture of the badge was changed to plastic. This piece was distributed clandestinely in the south and not worn publicly. The badge indicates the wearers acceptance into the Communist Party which during this time was in fact enrollment into the Viet Cong Combat Forces. Measures approx 7/8" diameter.
