This beautiful brass candlestick is lead filled at the base so is rather heavy for size...it is 12" high. The turned stem and cast base have a beautiful smooth and aged patina. There are stress or manufacture cracks on two of the feet and a split to the drip tray rim. It is a lovely solid old piece that I think may well date to the early 1700's ...either French or Italian...as the design whilst decorative is more subdued than the later more elaborate styles. Any advice on dating would be appreciated.
